based on material from CALL HER BLESSED.
Through memories and dreams, an old man relives losing three great loves of his life. We witness how his violent temper cursed two of his children and how his impatience and complacency brought about his beloved mother’s tragic death.
Now alone and desolate, widowed after 59 years of marriage to a woman he adored, he is bereft and awaiting his own death. In a dream, his wife, who held him liable for the great sadnesses of her own life, tells him the Jewish legend about the three gifts of extraordinary goodness and beauty given to the saints to redeem a lost soul from wandering in limbo between heaven and hell. He is overcome with grief when he recognizes his own lost soul and begs that his three great losses be accepted so that he can be with those he loved.
